SHARE PROJECT
PROCESS
The aim of this project was to design a multi-family housing building that would maximise its economic profitability and differentiate itself, standing out from its surroundings, yet remaining within the urban context in which it is set. Currently, the site has one existing building, a two-storey bourgeois house, uninhabited and in a state of average disrepair. This pre-existing building did not match our client’s vision for the site, so the project consists of a new construction. The most prominent difficulty of this project was the pronounced narrowness of the plot in relation to the plan requested by the client, which, together with the legal alignments to be respected for the surroundings, meant a challenging exercise in terms of designing the flats.
After solving quite the puzzle, the result is a contemporary 6-storey building with 4 flats. From the bottom up, a 2 bedroom flat (duplex) and storage spaces have been cleverly placed on floors (-1) and 0; a 2 bedroom flat on the 2nd floor, and in parallel filling the building on the remaining floors, a 1 bedroom flat (duplex) facing the front elevation and a 2 bedroom flat (triplex) on the opposite side. Despite the narrow terrain, the flats are spacious and functional, with comfortable rooms that guarantee good space quality.
The flexible and natural design of the façades, with micro-perforated accordion opening metal panels and the integration of vegetation growing on the handrails, give the building a fresh, dynamic and modern feel.
