SHARE PROJECT
PROCESS
The main objective of this project is to recover the building’s original residential use and therefore its architectural essence. The building, originally built in 1965, was eventually acquired by other owners who turned it into a 5-storey restaurant. In this phase, an external lift was installed in the building’s joint, which characterises its current state.
The building is in an intermediate state of abandonment, with all the structural elements of the façade in good condition, except the windows and doors; but with damage caused by vandalism in almost all the interior spaces, the finishing elements being the most affected.
The main challenge of this project was precisely to create a good case study of its initial version, to produce a modern adaptation of it, reflecting its past in a modern style. On the other hand, there was interest in rethinking the interior layout of the flats in order to make the property more profitable.
With a strategic reduction of the typologies and a greater diversity of them, the building doubled its offer of flats. In its original state, the building had one two bedroom flat on the ground floor and one three bedroom flat per floor on the upper three floors. With the new distributions of space, the building now has one two bedroom flat, one flat with no bedroom and common spaces on the ground floor, one flat with no bedroom and one one bedroom flat per floor on the 1st and 2nd floors, and no bedroom and one bedroom duplexes on the 3rd floor. On the other hand, with an approach aimed towards simplicity, a clean and timeless aesthetic has been achieved that restores the identity of this building with freshness.
