SHARE PROJECT
PROCESS
The owners of the land had in mind a project that was slightly out of the ordinary. They wanted a one-storey house with a normal plan, but in addition to that, they had in mind a parking space for 9 cars, which will elegantly display the fleet of vehicles as if it were an exhibition. They were also looking for a house that would leave ample green spaces, without taking up too much land with construction and have a provocative yet gentle design.
The target terrain was in a natural state, free of pre-existences. On its front it had a sloped public road, with a gap of approximately 5m between the ends. In a perpendicular direction, the terrain depressed by about 2 m until its limit. A motorway passed nearby the property, which was important to consider due to the potential unwanted noise that could reach the house.
Taking into account both the reality of the terrain and the wishes of our clients, the idea of the project is born to give a direct answer that ends up fulfilling all the objectives of the project. The decision to work on two levels allowed the house to be separated from the car showroom, creating two completely different environments.
The lower space emerges from the void left by the volumetry of the house, which appears separated from the ground and focused on the horizon. Taking advantage of the irregularity of the topography, two accesses were created to guarantee greater independence of the spaces, giving the house a second garage for daily use, which provides the owners with greater flexibility. This formal layout maximises green areas, is protected from noise and seeks controlled solar exposure, giving priority to light at the beginning and end of the day.
The result of this approach is an apparent compact volumetry at first sight, which is broken both in the deconstructive and distinctive entrance and in the multiple planes that, with lightness, generate the outdoor spaces in the private part of the house.
