The clients of this project were particularly concerned with the issue of accessibility, so they asked us for a house prepared for any movement needs that might arise. At the same time, they also showed a preference for a two-storey house, which guaranteed them greater bedroom privacy, extra space on the plot and a more dominant volumetry. The plot had a house in good condition, but which did not suit the type of life our clients wanted to have. Besides that, the terrain had a gentle slope that did not constitute a great difficulty.

As a result of the flexibility that the site presented, the privacy of our clients was prioritised by creating a central body away from the boundaries of the site. The plan fits rectangularly in the longitudinal direction of the plot, with the exception of the outer garage, which takes advantage of the south side edge to accommodate the roof. On the first floor, the common use spaces are distributed in a spacious layout, while the rooms are tucked away on the second floor.

The resulting volumetry expresses itself with power and conviction. From the entrance, a shaft emerges forcefully from the earth’s surface to receive the upper blind body resting on it. On its southern façade, an elegant succession of glass planes and slats, at different depths, build up emotion in a rhythmic way. As if for an apotheotic finale, the higher body descends with authority upon the extensive nature of the land.
