The clients of this project wanted a house with a strong indoor/outdoor relationship, but at the same time they wanted to feel protected in their home. The site’s terrain has a strong natural character, displaying a generous amount of eucalyptus trees that sift the light that reaches it. An initial difficulty in the project was the large depression in the land in the immediate vicinity of the access to the property.
What makes this project truly special is the way the level difference between the entrance and the access to the house has been resolved. A unique architectural element was designed, defined by the union between the walkway and the staircase, which extends from the street to the cover of the house. The staircase rushes into the volume, protected by a solid stone wall that divides the house and separates the arrival area from the open-space. The whole house is therefore protected on the lower level and is completely directed towards the nature of the site.
