PROCESS
The land for this project contained three vacant single-family housing buildings and the clients objective was to demolish it due to their advanced state of degradation and non-compatibility of programs. The land is practically in one level with a uniform slope favorable to the construction of housing.
In programmatic terms, the volume has only one floor for the single-family housing, accessible from Rua António Arouca. The building is made of two parts, the most social area and the bedroom area. In the most social areas of the house, there is the entrance hall, the kitchen, the living and dining room in open space, a service toilet, an office, as well as a laundry room and access to the garage for three cars. The most private area of the house includes the master suite with private toilet and closet, and two more bedrooms with shared toilet facilities.
Outside, at the back of the land, there are several patios related to the rooms of the house, and a vast garden area that surrounds the outdoor swimming pool and a reflecting pool. There are also two ceramic deck areas, one adjacent to the living room and an area for outdoor dining and socializing, adjacent to the kitchen and outdoor barbecue. This barbecue works as an extension of the interior kitchen furniture.
This house is built using geometries that combine an interesting dynamic between outdoor and indoor areas based on cutouts that allow small gardens to be incorporated into the house’s various programs.
