For this project, our clients were interested in a telluric house that guaranteed direct access by car to the ground floor. On the other hand, they wanted a controlled plan, but without affecting the aesthetics too much, as they were interested in a sleek, contemporary design with impact.
This is a plot of land bordered by two properties and by two roads, one of which is a narrow footpath and the other the only access road to the land. The land unraveled itself, although with little variation in slope, to almost 3 metres above the main street. An old stone wall surrounds the property.
The fundamental question of this project was how to develop the house at the level of the existing plot, and at the same time create a direct and comfortable vehicle access to the level of the house. The possibility of building the house at street level had been ruled out, because apart from the excessive excavation that would be required, this option also did not have many advantages associated with it. Another aspect to be taken into account was the need to give up land to the public road, which further restricted the main problem.
The proposal, formalising its promise to fulfil the desired objectives with emotion, appears with distinction at the top of the plot. To solve the problem of cars reaching the upper level, a ramp has been created that establishes a practical secondary entrance. Taking advantage of the excavation corresponding to the cession areas, a semi-open garage for everyday use was also proposed, which would efficiently receive the owners next to the main access to the house. The volumetry is composed of three units, two of which are the private spaces of the house and the third, the void between them, which extends outwards to define the pool space.
