SHARE PROJECT
PROCESS
The client of this project intended to build a two-story single-family house. This house is located on a polygonal plot that faces to the North with Rua da Biscova and neighboring properties on the remaining sides, highlighting the property on the East side with which it is aligned, contributing to the continuation of the existing urban fabric in the new design.
The building, type T2, consists of two floors, one containing the entrance and garage and
housing services and another in the shape of an “L” in which each arm represents a part of the house, the social part and the intimate part. In this volume, the intimate part stands out, facing south in the form of a tunnel.
Access, whether pedestrian or automobile, is via Rua da Biscova, with the pedestrian level and the automobile ramp with a concrete grid floor. Both routes allow connection to the outdoor entrance space, with the one coming from the garage allowing outdoor circulation sheltered from the weather, through the lower space of the protruding volume.
The orientation of the building body, in an “L” shape, facing the street front, promotes no
only the light and thermal use inherent to the solar orientation of the spaces facing South and East, as well as seeking to take advantage of the views of the land itself and the outdoor living space, essentially the pool space which is located on a higher level.
All interior spaces facing south, given the solar orientation, benefit from large glazing and shading from visors that top them. This single visor marks all elevations facing South and East, with a slight horizontal projection that defines and singularizes the construction.
In formal terms, the building maintains relationships with issues of solar orientation and the nearby building environment. The project respects the alignment in relation to the dominant road and function associated with the single-family housing area. At the same time, the project assumes its contemporary character and is distinct from other buildings, something that is noticeable due to its materials and type of architectural design, however, it integrates harmoniously into the landscape and is not intended to contrast too much with it.
Program: Indoor garage; entrance hall; storage; technical zone; sanitary service installation; open space with living room, dining room and kitchen; laundry and pantry; desk; two suites with closet and respective sanitary facilities; outdoor pool.
