SHARE PROJECT

PROCESS

The concept of the project comes from the client’s intention in designing a single family house with an “L” shape that would try to occupy the full width of its plot as much as possible without its construction being reflected as imposing from the streets point of view.

The proposal emerges within a completely unoccupied plot of about 1600m2 with no major altimetry differences, following the alignment of the neighboring building, on its west side, with which confronts and extends to the opposite limit of the plot, an occupation with almost the same width of its site, transforming into an “L” shape plan that takes the solar orientation in consideration, through a process of opening the habitable spaces to the South and to the outdoor living spaces.

The solution clearly demonstrates the desire of creating a clear distinction between the social and intimate spaces, seeking to preserve the intimacy of the couple and their daughter in the house’s interior as well as assuring peace and quiet, from the possible agitation coming from the public road, therefore placing the rooms at the farthest point of the “L” shape.

Furthermore there is a strong desire to promote the created dialogue between the outdoor spaces and the pool, inserting cobblestone paved patios that try to produce a dynamic with the house´s interior experience, which allows providing a sense of relaxation.

The volumes is a result of previously outlined intentions, creating an “L” shape that embraces the green outdoor and leisure spaces, while outlining a volume that is punctually erupted by both vegetation and exterior materiality, either exposed concrete or stratified wooden slats, in consonance with the building´s large windows facing south, maintaining and distinguishing its contemporary language. Although this interpretation reveals itself, with some mystery, only for those who take advantage of the interior of the house, since it maintains it´s unique language from the outside, almost imperceptible, with a shy traced slatted wall, that tries to distance itself from fuss of the outside world.
