SHARE PROJECT
PROCESS
The clients of this project intended to build a residential building consisting of a T3 house, which develops on two floors, with the purpose of serving as a permanent home. The project also includes a separate volume of annexes intended for the garage.
They wanted to include two bedrooms and an open space with kitchen and living room in the first floor program, making the most of the length on the ground floor. On the top floor we designed the master suite and an office space.
When developing this project, parameters such as solar orientation and the framing of the proposal with the urban environment in which it is inserted were always taken into account, mainly with the neighboring building, at West, with which it adjoins. The different altimetry of this neighboring building (3 floors high) called for a well-thought-out finish taking into account the transition of heights.
The building presents itself to the public road (Travessa Padre Luís António Farinhote) as a volume on two floors with a gabled sloping roof, similar to the surrounding buildings, although with a more contemporary style and finished in zinc sheet. From this volume, the larger glazed spans towards the public road stand out, due to the thermal and light benefits coming from the south.
On the north façade, more timid spans were designed, with the exception of the ground floor span, which is more generous in size given its importance in the relationship and contact with the patio and deck terrace, outdoor spaces that the applicants value and which they anticipate frequent use.
The proposed design solution maintains volumetric relationships with the neighboring building, due to the identical distance from the street plan and alignment of the front and back facades of the house. This relationship is also visible in terms of the height of the front façade, in the transition between the different heights of the two buildings, by aligning the eaves with the height of the neighboring balcony and by designing a canopy that finishes and smooths the transition. The proposal aims to respect and maintain alignment with the existing contiguous construction, contributing to the consolidation of the proposal with the existing definitions in the network where it is inserted.
Program: Entrance hall; two rooms; a suite with closet; open space with kitchen, dining room and living room; sanitary instalation; laundry; room/office; indoor garage.
