This is a special case, where a father and a daughter wanted to live in close proximity and where each had their own home, finding in this setup the perfect balance between proximity and privacy. On a plot of around 3,000 m2 with a fairly irregular shape and considerable unevenness, we were asked to create two single-storey volumes with different and independent plans. They wanted the living spaces to be the key aspect of both homes, being suitable for large gatherings and ensuring the enjoyment of all members.

This project corresponds to the father’s house, situated at the bottom of the plot, which initiates this double process. As a particular requirement, the client wanted his room to focus on the views of the horizon, isolating himself completely and marking his room as the pinnacle of privacy. A key point to address was the ground level of both houses, which we felt should be at the same level to ensure comfortable access by car from a common point and to relate directly to each other.

The first house of the duo is characterised by an austere volumetry of blind forms, which formally touch to mark the entrance and capture the views of the mountains. In contrast, the social part opens up completely to the more private social area of the respective plot and connects visually with the second house, living together in the same outdoor space.

Program: interior garage, hall, laundry room, service bathroom, office, open-space with living room, dining room and kitchen; one bedroom with bathroom, cloakroom and terrace, master bedroom with bathroom, cloakroom and terrace; and a games room with bathroom in a separate module.
